Paloma Barhaugh–Bordas is an artist, educator, and activist based in Austin, Texas, originally from Denver, Colorado. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Studio Art with a focus on printmaking at the University of Texas at Austin. Her artistic practice explores the intersection of migration, queerness, and ecology, particularly through the mediums of print media and installation, as well as social collaborative practices. Barhaugh–Bordas's work addresses ecological themes and aims to foster interspecies understanding by investigating the stories of naturalization and the local narratives of non-native plants in comparison to American identities. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally in various solo exhibitions, including at Printshop LA, Handwerker Gallery, Buffalo Artists Studios, and Sediment Arts. Additionally, she has participated in artist residencies at Casa Lu in Mexico City, ACRE, Women’s Studio Workshop, and the Institute for Electronic Arts at Alfred University, among others. Barhaugh–Bordas holds a BA in Liberal Arts from Carleton College and an MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design.
