Biography

Pam Lins is an artist educator who works across various disciplines including painting, sculpture, and photography. Her work largely addresses the historical use of materials in contemporary contexts, engaging with themes of loss, absence, and the limitations of image. Lins's artworks express concepts such as time, democracy, and politics through the applied materials, often disrupting the boundaries between sculptural and pictorial forms. Notably, she founded the Ceramics Club at Cooper Union in 2007, a platform that continues to create social spaces for its members. Lins has been involved in numerous exhibitions, including notable venues such as MoMA PS1 and the Whitney Biennial. A recipient of several prestigious awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study fellowship, she has been teaching at Princeton University since 2010, where she has also served as Associate Director of the Program in Visual Arts.
