Biography

Pam Millett is an Associate Professor and the Academic Coordinator of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education Program at the Faculty of Education, York University. With over 30 years of experience in educational clinical audiology across Ontario and Alberta, she demonstrates a passion for facilitating accessibility in education for students with hearing loss. Her research interests include educational audiology, the interface between clinical audiology and education, and the implementation of technology to support students with hearing loss in mainstream educational settings. Millett actively participates in professional associations and has chaired the Canadian Interorganization Steering Group for developing guidelines related to auditory processing disorders in children and adults. She has been recognized for her significant contributions to the field, receiving the Honours Association award from the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in 2015. Her dedication to innovation in academia is exemplified through her research projects focusing on leveraging captioning applications to enhance learning experiences for post-secondary students with hearing loss. In addition, she is committed to teacher education, ensuring that future educators are well-equipped to support students with diverse hearing needs.
