Biography

Pamela Angle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto. She holds a medical degree and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Angle has a strong research interest in obstetrical anesthesia, having developed a multi-dimensional psychometric instrument to measure women’s experiences of labor and delivery pain. Her validation studies have demonstrated high levels of instrument performance within patient populations. She is the principal investigator of a project that aims to develop a Multi-Attribute Health Index to measure the quality of labor analgesia. Additionally, her research explores the prevention and treatment of postdural puncture headaches and the dural tissue trauma patterns produced by epidural needles. Dr. Angle serves as the director of the Obstetrical Anesthesia Research Unit and provides mentorship to anesthesia fellows and residents engaged in research projects related to obstetrical anesthesia. She is actively involved in the education of residents who rotate through her department and is an invited speaker at national meetings on various aspects of Obstetrical Anesthesia.
