Dr. Pamela Bjorkman

Biography

Pamela Bjorkman is a renowned professor at the California Institute of Technology, focusing on the fields of biology and biological engineering. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in 1978 and later obtained her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1984. Bjorkman served in various academic roles at Caltech, starting as an assistant professor from 1989 to 1995, advancing to associate professor, and then full professor in 1998. In addition to her teaching, she held the Delbruck Chair from 2004 to 2015 and was appointed as the Centennial Professor from 2015 to 2018. Her influential research has been recognized with her position as the Baltimore Professor since 2018 and as a Merkin Institute Professor starting in 2021. She was also an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 1989 to 2015 and has held several executive roles, including the Executive Officer for two terms. Bjorkman's contributions to the scientific community have been significant, particularly in understanding complex biological systems and engineering applications.
