Dr. Pamela Davis Kean

Biography

Pamela Davis-Kean is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on Quantitative Methods from Vanderbilt University. Her research largely explores the intersection of self-concept, mathematical achievement, and the influences of socioeconomic status on parenting beliefs and behaviors. Over the years, Dr. Davis-Kean has published extensively in major developmental and family journals and has been recognized as one of the top 2% cited researchers in the field. She serves on multiple editorial boards, including as Deputy Editor for Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science (AMPPS). Dr. Davis-Kean has continuously secured funding from organizations such as the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health to support her research, fostering new multidisciplinary collaborations and advancing the field of developmental psychology. She advocates for Open Science practices to enhance rigor and transparency in research, especially within the developmental education science communities.
