Biography

Pamela Susan Douglas is the Ursula Geller Distinguished Professor of Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Duke University and the Director of the Multimodality Imaging Program at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. With over 30 years of experience, she has led landmark multicenter government studies and pivotal industry clinical trials in outcomes research. Her contributions include significant advancements in the quality and appropriateness of imaging in clinical care, including the development of clinical trials registries and national standards for imaging utilization. She is recognized as a pioneer in several areas, including cardiovascular diseases in women, sports cardiology, and cardio-oncology. Dr. Douglas has authored over 400 peer-reviewed manuscripts and is involved in 30 practice guidelines. She has served as the President of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography, as well as being Chief of Cardiology at both the University of Wisconsin and Duke University. Her previous academic appointments include faculties at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, and she currently contributes to the External Advisory Council of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
