Dr. Pamela Hieronymi

Biography

Pamela Hieronymi is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2000. Her research interests lie in the intersection of various subfields of philosophy, particularly ethics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of action. Hieronymi is actively engaged in discussions surrounding moral responsibility and free will. Her recent work focuses on the agency in exercising one's own attitudes, with a particular emphasis on beliefs and intentions. She is currently developing a manuscript that applies her recent research to the challenges surrounding problems of free moral responsibility, examining the source and nature of motives and their justification in relation to moral accountability.
