Biography

Cellist Pamela Highbaugh Aloni has built an impressive career as both a soloist and chamber musician across North America and Europe. As a co-founding member of the Lafayette String Quartet, she has served as Artists-in-Residence at the University of Victoria, contributing significantly to the chamber music scene for over thirty years. The quartet has won numerous accolades, including the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Portsmouth International String Quartet Competition. Pamela began her career in California before moving to Detroit, where she was principal cellist for the Renaissance City Chamber Players. She has held faculty positions at Oakland University and currently teaches both cello and chamber music courses at the University of Victoria. A dedicated educator, she has coached the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra and served on the faculty of the Courtenay Youth Music School Festival. Acknowledged for her contributions to music and community, Pamela received an honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Canada West in 2009. With a passion for orchestral and chamber performance, she continues to be an active musician in various ensembles and festivals.
