Biography

Pamela Stapleton (formerly Edwards) is a qualified Chartered Accountant with significant commercial experience as a financial management accountant since 1980. She began her academic career in 1986, joining the University of Manchester in 1990. Her teaching primarily focuses on financial reporting, catering to a diverse range of students including undergraduates and postgraduates in MBA programs. Throughout her tenure, Pamela has held various administrative roles, including Head of the Accounting Finance Division and Director of International Studies. Her research interests lie in public accountability, public-private partnerships, and the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), particularly within developing countries. Current research examines the devolution of powers in Greater Manchester and the increasing importance of metrics in society, emphasizing the role of the accounting profession. She has critically analyzed public finance initiatives and their impacts on governance and transparency in various sectors, contributing extensively to the exploration of financial information's use in managing organizational performance.
