Biography

Panagiotis Souganidis is the Charles H. Swift Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on partial differential equations, emphasizing the study of qualitative properties of solutions to elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic equations, as well as conservation laws and Hamilton-Jacobi equations. He has worked on applications related to phase transitions, mathematical biology, and the interactions of stochastic analysis. His recent research includes the development of a theory for stochastic viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations with multiplicative noise, the study of homogenization in random environments, and the analysis of biological models that consider motor effects.
