Biography

Dr. Tsiotras holds the David & Andrew Lewis Endowed Chair at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech. He is the associate director of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. His current research interests include nonlinear optimal control with connections to artificial intelligence, planning, and decision-making, emphasizing applications for autonomous ground, aerial, and space vehicles. He has published more than 350 journal and conference articles in various areas. Before joining the faculty at Georgia Tech, Dr. Tsiotras was an assistant professor in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Virginia. He has held visiting appointments at renowned institutions including MIT, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, INRIA, and Ecole des Mines de Paris. Dr. Tsiotras is a recipient of several prestigious awards including the NSF CAREER award and the IEEE Technical Excellence Award in Aerospace Controls. He serves as the chief editor for the journal Frontiers in Robotics and AI and has held editorial positions for numerous other journals. He is a fellow of AIAA, IEEE, and AAS.
