Dr. Panikos Georgallis

Biography

Panikos Georgallis is an Associate Professor of Strategy at the Amsterdam Business School, University of Amsterdam (UvA). He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from HEC Paris. Georgallis' research delves into why firms are differentially affected by social, political, and natural environments, emphasizing the importance of firm heterogeneity within broader social systems, markets, and communities. His work typically focuses on sustainability contexts and involves examining the interactions between firms and social movements as well as governments. His research has been published in leading journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Journal of Management Studies, and Journal of International Business Studies, among others. He has received accolades for his scholarly contributions, including a finalist position for paper awards at major Academy of Management conferences. In 2020, he was honored with an award for his article "Toward a Theory of Entry into Moral Markets: The Role of Social Movements in Organizational Identity," co-authored with Brandon Lee. Moreover, he is a recipient of several grants, including the prestigious Dutch NWO Veni grant and the Strategy Research Foundation Dissertation Scholars Grant. His research has also reached practitioner and policy outlets like the EU Research Journal and LSE Business Review.
