Paolo Favaro received his Laurea degree (BSc + MSc) from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1999, followed by M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 and 2003, respectively. He later became a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles, and subsequently at Cambridge University, UK. Between 2004 and 2006, he worked in medical imaging at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, USA. From 2006 to 2011, Paolo was a Lecturer and Reader at Heriot-Watt University and also served as an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, UK. In 2012, he was appointed as a full professor at the University of Bern, Switzerland. His research interests include computer vision, computational photography, machine learning, signal and image processing, estimation theory, inverse problems, and variational techniques. He is a member of the IEEE Society.
