Paolo Favaro received his Laurea degree (B.Sc. + M.Sc.) from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1999, and both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Science Department at the University of California, Los Angeles, and later at Cambridge University, UK from 2004 to 2006. Favaro then worked in medical imaging at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, USA from 2006 to 2011. He held positions as a Lecturer and Reader at Heriot-Watt University and was an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, UK. In 2012, he became a full professor at the University of Bern, Switzerland. His research interests include Computer Vision, Computational Photography, Machine Learning, Signal and Image Processing, Estimation Theory, Inverse Problems, and Variational Techniques. He is a member of the IEEE Society.
