Biography

Paolo Lanteri is a Legal Counsellor specializing in Intellectual Property law with significant experience at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). At WIPO, he is part of the Copyright Law Division and is engaged in legislative policy advice related to copyright law, new technologies, and emerging licensing schemes. He manages projects that involve various aspects of copyright law, especially in the digital environment, focusing on areas such as the music streaming market and Open Science. Lanteri has been instrumental in leading the discussions on the copyright digital environment and was directly involved in the adoption of significant treaties, including the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances and the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with disabilities. Before joining WIPO in 2007, he worked in the Intellectual Property department of Uría Menéndez Abogados LLP in Madrid and in the legal department of Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), a Spanish collecting society. He is a member of both the Spanish and Italian Bar Associations and holds an LL.B. and LL.M. from the Autonomous University of Madrid, speaking four languages fluently: English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
