Biography

Paolo Vitali is a board-certified neurologist and neuropsychologist affiliated with the McGill University Research Centre Studies in Aging. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Italy, in 2004, and completed a Biomedical Sciences (Neuropsychology) degree at Université de Montréal in 2007. He graduated from the Medical School at Université Laval in 2010 and completed his residency program in Neurology at Université de Montréal, including training in electromyography at McGill University. Dr. Vitali has a focus on research in language disorders (aphasia) and cerebral plasticity, utilizing neuroimaging techniques to measure brain damage. His training includes a research fellowship at the Memory Aging Center in UCSF-San Francisco, where he investigated early-affected brain regions connected to language deficits in atypical dementia. He has been funded by organizations such as FRQS and has collaborated on research projects supported by the Alzheimer’s Society and the Canadian Institute of Health Research. Currently, Dr. Vitali is involved in assessing and following up patients with neurodegenerative diseases, particularly those with language impairments due to atypical dementia, and he acts as a clinical supervisor for PhD students in neuropsychology.
