Biography

Parisa Ghanouni is an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University in the School of Occupational Therapy. She earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ghanouni's research focuses on designing and developing programs that implement a client-centered approach for marginalized and vulnerable populations across the lifespan. Her research interests include community mental health, health promotion, assistive technologies, and the impact of conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and aging on mental and cognitive function. Dr. Ghanouni has conducted substantial work related to mental, physical, cognitive, and affective aspects of rehabilitation, and has developed tele-rehabilitation programs aimed at improving the socio-emotional skills of children with autism. Her work involves community-based participatory research approaches to enhance integrated healthcare services for individuals with disabilities transitioning into adulthood.
