Dr. Parisa Shokouhi

Biography

Parisa Shokouhi is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Penn State University, specializing in various aspects of acoustics and structural health monitoring. She has authored numerous publications focusing on topics such as stress wave propagation in fractured media, nondestructive evaluation techniques, and machine learning applications in data analytics. After obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2000, she continued her studies at Rutgers, where she completed both her Master's and PhD in Civil Engineering by 2006. Her research interests include dynamic systems, vibrations, and the application of seismic metamaterials in engineering. Over her academic career, Shokouhi has achieved significant recognition, including the Fulbright Scholar Award and various research grants. Besides her teaching responsibilities, she actively participates in service to her professional community, including multiple committee roles and conference organization. Shokouhi's work significantly contributes to advancements in nondestructive testing methodologies and the understanding of acoustic properties in civil engineering materials.
