Biography

Parisa Shooshtari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University. She holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia. Her primary research interest involves the development of computational and statistical machine learning methods to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying complex diseases. She is particularly focused on integrative analysis of multiple biological datasets to uncover mechanisms of gene dysregulation associated with these diseases. In addition, her research explores machine learning applications for analyzing single-cell sequencing data, specifically in single-cell genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics, to identify specific cell sub-populations involved in complex diseases. She is actively seeking to recruit undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral researchers in the field of bioinformatics. Interested candidates are encouraged to reach out for potential research opportunities.
