Dr. Parvin Mousavi

Biography

Parvin Mousavi is a Professor at the Queen's School of Computing and holds the Canada CIFAR AI Chair at the Vector Institute. She is also recognized as a Canada Research Chair in Medical Informatics. Dr. Mousavi completed her Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia in 2001. Her research interests focus on medical informatics and include a range of techniques and applications aimed at enhancing diagnostic processes. Key areas involve machine learning techniques for computer-aided diagnosis, ultrasound imaging, and the analysis of biological data. Her work emphasizes the development of quantitative models for reverse engineering gene regulatory networks and improving cancer detection methodologies through advanced image analysis, including the segmentation and classification of fluorescence microscopy images as well as analysis of ultrasound signals. She contributes significantly to the fields of computational biology and bioinformatics, aiming to create impactful solutions through knowledge discovery and high-throughput data analysis.
