Biography

Parviz Moin is the Franklin P. and Caroline M. Johnson Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and the founding director of the Center for Turbulence Research. The center, established in 1987 as a research consortium with NASA, focuses on fundamental studies of turbulent flows and is recognized as a leading international hub for turbulence research. Moin’s pioneering work in direct Large Eddy Simulation techniques has significantly advanced the understanding of turbulence physics and control modeling concepts. He has received numerous accolades, including memberships in the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, along with several prestigious awards in recognition of his contributions to the field of fluid dynamics.
