Pat Kambhampati is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at McGill University. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in 1992 and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 1998, followed by a postdoctoral research associate position at the same institution from 1999 to 2001. His research focuses on the field of Materials Chemistry and Nanoscience, particularly in the area of Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy. Kambhampati's scientific program spans the entire landscape of quantum dots, from conventional CdSe quantum dots to perovskite quantum dots (PQDs). His work on PQDs has been notable, representing a new frontier in quantum materials due to their defect tolerance and long carrier diffusion lengths. In addition to research, he teaches courses such as CHEM 345: Introduction to Quantum Chemistry and CHEM 556: Advanced Quantum Mechanics. He has received several prestigious awards including the John Polanyi Award from the Chemical Institute of Canada in 2022 and the Lady Davis Fellowship from the Hebrew University in 2020. Kambhampati is also part of the International Advisory Board for the Journal Physical Chemistry Letters.
