Dr. Patric Plesa

Biography

Patric Plesa is an Assistant Professor (limited term) in the psychology department at Toronto Metropolitan University. He earned his PhD in Historical, Theoretical, and Critical Studies in Psychology from York University. Plesa's research predominantly focuses on critical psychology, with particular attention given to psychedelics research, existentialism, and ecopsychology. His work aims to address critical issues within psychology, offering new theoretical perspectives that enhance understanding and innovate interventions, while simultaneously reassessing practices that impact mental health and well-being in relation to environmental concerns. His pedagogy adopts an interdisciplinary approach, employing a critical theory lens to engage with course material through social and cultural perspectives. Additionally, he has taught various courses at several institutions, including Toronto Metropolitan University, York University, and Slippery Rock University.
