Biography

Patric Turowski obtained his Master's and PhD degrees from the University of Basel, Switzerland, where he studied serine/threonine protein phosphatases under the supervision of Brian Hemmings, FRS. He completed postdoctoral projects at the CNRS research institutes in Montpellier, France, focusing on the involvement of protein phosphatase 2A and cdc25 in cell cycle regulation. Turowski then joined the laboratory of John Greenwood at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology as a senior postdoctoral fellow to further his training in vascular cell biology. Since his appointment as a lecturer in 2004, his research and teaching have focused on signaling in neurovascular endothelial cells, particularly in the brain and retina, and the immune functions of the blood-retinal barrier. He has held various academic positions at UCL, including senior lecturer in vascular cell biology and visiting professor at Uppsala University, Sweden from 2019 to 2021. His extensive involvement in external examining, advisory activities, and research supervision reflects his commitment to academic excellence and collaboration.
