Biography

Patricia Cortes is a Professor at Boston University's Questrom School of Business, where she serves as a Dean’s Research Scholar. Specializing in markets, public policy, and law, Cortes has established herself as a leader in her field through significant research contributions and a commitment to education. She earned her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006, following her master's and bachelor's degrees from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. Cortes's research primarily explores the implications of automation on gender, particularly in terms of occupational segregation and skill gaps. She has presented her research at numerous prestigious events, including seminars at renowned institutions such as Cornell University, University of Tokyo, and University of Oxford. Throughout her career, Cortes has focused on gender differences in negotiations and labor market outcomes, providing valuable insights through her experimental studies.
