Patricia Dankers is a full professor in the Biomedical Materials department at Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research focuses on developing functional biomaterials based on supramolecular chemistry for regenerative medicine. She studied chemistry at Radboud University, majoring in biochemistry and organic chemistry. In 2002, she began her PhD research at Eindhoven University of Technology under the supervision of prof. E.W. (Bert) Meijer, working on supramolecular bioactive biomaterials with a modular approach. She defended her PhD thesis in 2006 and subsequently became a research scientist at SupraPolix and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) where she participated in the Dutch bioartificial kidney project. In 2008, she was appointed assistant professor at Eindhoven University of Technology and became a visiting professor in 2010 at Northwestern University in Chicago. In 2014, she was appointed associate professor and in 2017 full professor. She has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the ERC starting grant in 2012 and the DSM Science & Technology award. Patricia is also involved in various scientific advisory roles and is a member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences.
