Dr. Patricia Donahoe

Biography

Patricia K. Donahoe, M.D., is a Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Pediatric Surgical Research Laboratories at Massachusetts General Hospital. With a career spanning multiple decades, she has focused on developmental biology and its clinical applications, particularly in relation to Müllerian Inhibiting Substance (MIS) and its potential as an anticancer agent in human ovarian carcinomas. Dr. Donahoe has published over 230 peer-reviewed articles and has been funded by the NIH for her research. She has contributed significantly to the understanding of congenital anomalies and has collaborated with esteemed colleagues to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. In addition to her research, she has held leadership roles in various academic and medical organizations, including serving as the President of the Boston Surgical Society and President-elect of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. Dr. Donahoe is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, and her work has earned numerous accolades including research prizes and honorary degrees.
