Patricia Martin is a specialist in international development and politics in Mexico, with a focus on social and political violence in the state of Oaxaca. Her research interests are inspired by three major themes in social science: the differentiated aspects of international development, the relationship between politics and power informed by feminist approaches, and the issues of social identity and subjectivity. Currently, she is engaged in two empirical projects analyzing different facets of political violence in Mexico. One project examines local manifestations of the Dirty War in the 1970s and its impact on social mobilizations.
