Biography

Patricia Sanchez is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream at the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) in 2020. Her research focuses on applying social psychology to effectively educate the public and drive social change, which also informs her teaching. Patricia has focused her work on the effects of viewing wrongful conviction documentaries on viewer attitudes and legal decision-making. She is passionate about making science accessible and is currently an editor for the Psychology Communities Wiki, an initiative formed by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology to make psychological science available to the public and academics. In addition, she is a staff writer for PsyPost.org and has appeared as a guest on the Wrongful Conviction podcast, discussing false confessions. At UofT, Patricia teaches courses related to social psychology and psychology law, while also supervising graduate student research and training postdoctoral scholars.
