Dr. Patrick Bayer

Biography

Patrick Bayer is the Gilhuly Family Distinguished Professor of Economics at Duke University, where he has been a faculty member since 2009. His research traverses a wide variety of subjects primarily focused on racial inequality, segregation, social interactions, housing markets, education, and criminal justice. His recent work has been published in prestigious journals including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, Econometrica, and the Review of Financial Studies. Ongoing projects include investigations into jury representation and the long-term effects of residential school segregation. Bayer serves in multiple roles within the academic community, including as Associate Chair of the Economics Department and as a Faculty Research Scholar at the Duke Population Research Institute.
