Biography

Patrick Bergeron holds a joint PhD in Comparative Literature from Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada, and Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, France. He has been teaching in the Department of French at the University of New Brunswick since 2005. His research primarily focuses on Decadence and Fin-de-Siècle Culture, Viennese Modernism, Women's Writing, and Genre Literature, particularly Dystopian and Post-Apocalyptic fiction. Current projects include 'A History of Women's Novels in France from 1900 to 1945' and 'On the Margins of Legitimate Literature: The Case of Genre Novels by Women,' supported by SSHRC from 2018 to 2025. In addition to teaching, he has authored and edited numerous works in his fields of study, contributing to the scholarly discourse on themes related to gender and genre in literature.
