Biography

Patrick Blonien is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Rice University in 2024, following a Master of Arts in Business Administration from the same institution in 2020. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Business Fellows and secondary majors in Finance and Mathematics, along with a minor in Statistics at Baylor University in 2018. He also has a secondary research agenda that utilizes structural models to quantify the quality and extent of information in voting during trading sessions. Blonien has received several accolades, including the Brattle Group Ph.D. Candidate Award for Outstanding Research in 2023, the Finance Theory Group Summer School Paper Award in 2023, and was a runner-up for the Finance Theory Group Paper Award Job Market in 2024.
