Biography

Professor Patrick Dumond received his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Ottawa in February 2015. In 2016, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an assistant professor, where he teaches courses in engineering design. He is actively involved in the ongoing development of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design (CEED) at the University of Ottawa and advises numerous students participating in pre-professional engineering competitions. His research interests encompass vibration and acoustic system design, developing inverse eigenvalue methods for vibration system design, and mechanical and biomechanical design. He also explores the theory of musical acoustics and has a keen interest in understanding variations in the mechanical properties of wood and controlled design manufacturing processes.
