Biography

Patrick Fafard has had a lengthy career bridging government and academia. He served as the Director General of the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat at the Privy Council Office in Canada and held multiple roles in provincial governments, including the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Commission on Medicare and the Executive Director of Policy Planning at the Saskatchewan Department of Health. He has a broad range of academic interests and is the author, co-author, or editor of numerous publications focused on health, trade, environmental policies, and intergovernmental relations in Canada. He is a co-editor of the monograph series "Palgrave Studies in Public Health Policy Research". His current research includes studying the roles of senior public health leaders in Commonwealth countries, global health governance addressing antimicrobial resistance, and the governance of organ donation and transplantation. He is a Senior Investigator at the Global Strategy Lab and holds leadership roles in various health law and policy initiatives.
