Patrick Schwaller is a full professor of physics at Bern University of Applied Sciences. He received his diploma in experimental physics from the University of Fribourg in 1993 and completed his doctorate at the University of Zurich in 1998 under Prof. Dr. Jürg Osterwalder, focusing on angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy within the high-temperature superconductors group. Following this, he conducted post-doctoral research in solid-state physics from 1998 to 2001 in the research group led by Prof. Dr. Louis Schlapbach. Schwaller subsequently worked as a senior scientist at the Laboratory for Mechanics Materials Nanostructures at EMPA – Materials Science and Technology Thun from 2001 to 2009. In 2010, he became a full professor at Bern University of Applied Sciences and has since been involved in teaching activities in the fields of physics and microsystems technology. His research projects include materials and surfaces, thin film technologies, and microfluidic systems, and he teaches courses in the Biomedical Engineering Master's Program, particularly in Microsystems Engineering.
