Biography

Patrick Sharkey is the William S. Tod Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton University, where he also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University in 2007. Previously, he was the Chair of the Sociology Department at New York University and served as the Scientific Director of the Crime Lab, New York. He is also the founder of AmericanViolence.org. His research interests are centered on issues of social inequality, public policy, and crime, with a focus on how neighborhood environments influence social and health outcomes.
