Patrick Tang is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University Malaysia, holding a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. His current research interests focus on cavitation technology, nano/microencapsulation, and controlled delivery of bioactive ingredients. One of his significant contributions is the investigation of a novel liquid whistle hydrodynamic cavitation reactor technology, which offers innovative perspectives for the food and pharmaceutical industries, aiming at substantial process improvements via sonochemistry. Patrick has actively participated in interdisciplinary research, resulting in fruitful collaborations, particularly with the Tissue Engineering Centre at UKM Hospital. He has published extensively, including three book chapters and fifteen ISI-indexed publications, nine of which are in Q1 journals. Patrick currently supervises four PhD students and serves as an associate supervisor for two others. His work in bio-nano engineering earned him the Young Chemical Engineer award from the prestigious IChemE Malaysia Awards in 2014. In January 2019, he was awarded a visiting fellowship at Chulalongkorn University to collaborate on research in particle technology. His expertise extends into developing smart, biodegradable nanoparticle-stabilized emulsions for modern nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications, with ongoing projects centered around functional polymeric coating technology for sustainable palm oil processing. Patrick's teaching commitment includes courses in Nanotechnology Materials and Sustainable Processing.
