Biography

Patrick Teefy is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Western University and serves as an Interventional Cardiologist and Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). He completed his medical education at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 1986 as the Gold Medalist in his class. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto, where he also engaged in further Cardiology training in Calgary. His primary clinical focus includes percutaneous coronary intervention, structural heart disease, particularly involving aortic valves, and he is a member of the transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) team. Dr. Teefy is actively involved in teaching and research, concentrating on interventional cardiology and aortic valve diseases. He has also contributed to medical education initiatives, particularly focusing on interventional cardiology advancements in Belarus. Over the past decades, he, alongside Dr. William Kostuk, has participated in humanitarian efforts by providing didactic seminars and hands-on demonstrations of cardiac techniques to healthcare professionals in Belarus. Dr. Teefy and Dr. Kostuk have been recognized for their contributions with honorary doctorates from the medical council of Belarus, reflecting their commitment to improving cardiac care in countries affected by economic and health crises.
