Biography

Patrick Theiner is a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh. He specializes in teaching large, introductory classes primarily focused on international relations and comparative politics, catering mostly to first- and second-year undergraduates. He received his PhD in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2013 as a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Research Scholar, focusing on the interactions between donor and recipient states in the context of global public health. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh, Patrick held a position as a lecturer in International Relations at the University of Göttingen, Germany, from 2013 to 2018. He has been involved in the Comparative Regional Organizations Project, which is notable for being the largest data collection and analysis project on the institutional design of regional organizations to date.
