Biography

Patrik Johansson is a Full Professor of Materials Physics at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. He leads a research group comprising approximately ten PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. His research primarily focuses on the development and conceptual understanding of new electrolytes at the molecular level, integrating modeling and spectroscopy with practical performance studies, particularly in the context of battery generation. He serves as co-director of Alistore-ERI, which is Europe's largest industry-academia network in the field of energy storage, and is involved in several significant EU projects, including FET-Open CARBAT (Calcium batteries) and the Graphene Flagship Core 3 (Lithium-Sulfur batteries). His innovative work on aluminum batteries earned him recognition in BASF’s Open Innovation Contest for Energy Storage, where he was awarded €100,000 in 2015. He has been an invited speaker at major international battery conferences, including IMLB, IBA, ICNaB, ISPE, €-MRS, and MRS.
