Dr. Patrik Thollander

Biography

Patrik Thollander is a Professor and Head of the Division at Linköping University, focusing on the intersection of energy policy and industrial energy efficiency. His research encompasses the development of cost-effective policy instruments designed to reduce energy costs for industries, with a particular emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Thollander's work seeks to improve industrial energy efficiency as a means to reduce not only company costs but also the environmental impact linked to energy usage. Active on both national and international levels, he has managed projects for the International Energy Agency and participated in efforts regarding financial instruments that promote efficient energy use within the European Union. He has also contributed to national investigations on energy audit policies through the Swedish Energy Agency. With a robust theoretical foundation, he has articulated concepts such as the energy efficiency gap and has been cited in prominent publications, including the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report. Thollander is dedicated to teaching and sharing knowledge at both basic and advanced postgraduate levels, with privileges to lecture both nationally and internationally.
