Professor Dr. Patrizia Gentile

Biography

Patrizia Gentile is a Full Professor in the Department of History at Carleton University, specializing in Canadian history, particularly in the areas of sexuality and gender, body history, beauty contests, queer history, and national security sexual regulation. She holds a BA from McGill University, an MA from Carleton University, and a PhD from Queen's University. Her research focuses on cultural and gender history in Canada, exploring themes such as the October Crisis in Quebec, immigrant communities, and queer theory. Gentile has authored and edited several significant publications, including 'Canadian War Queers: National Security Sexual Regulation' and 'Contesting Bodies, Nation, Canadian History.' She has contributed to numerous refereed journals, further advancing the discourse on LGBTQ+ issues within the context of Canadian history.
