Biography

Patrycja Dubielecka-Szczerba is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and serves as the Director of Translational Hematology within the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Rhode Island Hospital. She is also the Co-Director of the Pathobiology Graduate Program and the Co-Leader of the Cancer Biology Program at the Legorreta Cancer Center, Brown University. Dubielecka-Szczerba earned her PhD with honors from the University of Wroclaw, Poland, and has undergone notable postdoctoral training, including at the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute in New York and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her research interests include the biology of blood cancer-initiating stem cells, with a primary focus on understanding their role in the development and relapse of myeloproliferative neoplasms, and the effects of age-related chronic inflammation on malignant transformation in hematopoietic stem cells. Dubielecka-Szczerba has been awarded several grants from the NIH and other institutions to further her research endeavors. She is committed to uncovering molecular underpinnings related to age-associated neoplasms and aims to develop effective therapeutic strategies targeting these disease-initiating cells.
