Biography

Patty Buchanan joined the University of Washington's Industrial & Systems Engineering department as a full-time teaching professor in 2016. Since then, she has been actively involved in teaching introductory courses covering engineering economics, optimization models, and manufacturing scheduling. Prior to her tenure at the University of Washington, she worked at Harris Corporation in the defense space sector as a manufacturing engineer. During her time at Harris Corporation, she focused on production development and implementing simulation modeling to improve manufacturing capabilities and cycle times.
