Biography

Dr. Paul Alonso is a Professor at the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Tech. He holds a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. He has published several influential works, including "Satiric TV Americas" (Oxford University Press, 2018) and "Digital Satire Latin America" (University Press Florida, 2024). His research focuses on convergence journalism, entertainment, satire, politics, and digital cultures in Latin America. Alonso's contributions to the field have appeared in respected journals such as the Latin American Research Review and the Journal of Popular Culture. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he was a staff member at the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. Currently, he directs Polivision, a bilingual multimedia outlet based in Atlanta that covers Latin American and Global Cultures. In 2024, he received a Fulbright Scholar Award, recognizing his expertise in media studies and Latin American cultural studies.
