Biography

Paul Azzopardi is a Departmental Lecturer in Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. His research primarily focuses on the neural basis of visual perception and conscious awareness. He conducts field research with interests spanning cortical magnification, M-scaling of visual thresholds, parallel processing, visual motion perception, and face perception. Additionally, Azzopardi explores visual illusions and perceptual distortions associated with psychosis and disorders of perception that arise from brain damage, including blindsight and visual neglect. He models perceptual decisions and metacognition and has also conducted research around safety and wellbeing in online multi-player gaming environments. Azzopardi is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Teaching Excellence Award and serves as a Dean Tutor at Worcester College, Oxford.
