Dr. Paul Beamish

Biography

Paul Beamish is a Professor at the Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario, specializing in International Business. He has authored 63 books and 150 refereed journal articles, with a focus on International Management, Strategic Management, and Joint Ventures Alliances. His notable work includes the 9th edition of 'Transnational Management: Concepts and Cases,' published in November 2024. Beamish's research has been widely recognized, with approximately 49,000 Google Scholar citations. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Studies from 1993 to 1997 and holds numerous editorial board memberships. As a founding figure of the 39 Country Initiative in 2010, he facilitates teaching opportunities in lower-income countries. His extensive contributions to the field also include 170 case studies, many of which have won prestigious awards and been translated into over 100 languages. He has been instrumental in steering significant research on Japanese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), leading to the publication of 190 works and serving as a major resource for 30 PhD dissertations. Throughout his career, Beamish has contributed to international consulting and training efforts, collaborating with organizations like the World Bank and Global Affairs Canada.
