Biography

Paul Bernick graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School and completed a rotating internship at Toronto East General Hospital. He then entered the Gallie Residency Training Program in General Surgery at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1998. Following this, he completed a one-year clinical research fellowship in colorectal surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and subsequently a clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Surgeons, as well as being board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Bernick joined the surgical staff at Toronto East General Hospital in 2000 and currently serves as the Division Head of General Surgery and Medical Director of Surgical Education at the same hospital. His clinical interests encompass surgical education, laparoscopic general colorectal surgery, and therapeutic endoscopy.
