Biography

Paul S. Cederna is the Robert Oneal Professor of Plastic Surgery and Chief of the Plastic Surgery Section at the University of Michigan. He is also a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Cederna specializes in the reconstruction of complex wounds, combining his expertise in general surgery, microsurgery, and plastic surgery with a background in biomedical engineering. This unique combination allows him to implement creative solutions for technically challenging operations and solve complex problems resulting from trauma, cancer, or burns. His research involves directing the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory and he has authored over 350 scientific manuscripts along with 27 book chapters. Dr. Cederna has actively presented his work at more than 800 national and international meetings, has provided 400 extramural presentations and has mentored a wide array of students and fellows in the biomedical field. He has also held several prestigious positions, including Chairman of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and President of the American Society of Peripheral Nerve.
